Shared Care
Supporting Continuity of ADHD Care
How shared care works
STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS
Shared care typically involves:
- Completion of ADHD titration under consultant supervision
- Stabilisation of medication dose
- Clinical review confirming suitability for shared care
- Submission of shared care request to your GP
- GP decision on whether to accept prescribing responsibility
GP DECISION & LOCAL AGREEMENT
Once requested:
- Your GP reviews clinical documentation
- They assess whether shared care can be accepted
- Local prescribing policies are applied
- A formal agreement is confirmed or declined
- You are informed clearly of the outcome
ONGOING SPECIALIST SUPPORT
Even in shared care, we continue to provide:
- Specialist ADHD reviews as needed
- Clinical advice and medication guidance
- Support if symptoms change or concerns arise
- Review of treatment effectiveness
- Coordination with your GP where required
